Traveler notes
Visitors quickly realize QR is everywhere in Laos.
Most small shops, cafes, markets, and local counters prefer QR. LOCA PAY helps visitors keep using the card or wallet they already trust.
I was surprised how many places had at least one LAO QR code, and some counters had three or four. My cards were not accepted directly in many places, so LOCA PAY became my go-to. The 3% + 5,000 LAK fee felt clear, and it was still better than another ATM run.

In Vientiane and Luang Prabang, QR payment was easier than finding a card terminal. LOCA PAY made my credit card useful again.

I expected to use cash, but QR codes were at coffee shops, tour desks, and food stalls. The fee was upfront, which made it feel trustworthy.

The ATM fee and exchange-rate guessing were more annoying than the LOCA PAY fee. Scanning LAO QR with my card was calmer.

Many places showed QR, but not Visa or Mastercard at the counter. LOCA PAY solved exactly that gap for me.

For a short trip, I did not want to open a local bank app. LOCA PAY let me pay like a local without setting up local banking.
Pieter van DijkNetherlands
The best part was not bargaining with cash or hunting for change. I scanned, confirmed the amount, and kept moving.

Using Apple Pay through LOCA PAY felt seamless. I did not have to pull out my wallet, and scanning LAO QR felt just like the payment flow I already use at home.

Hotels and restaurants often add 3% to 3.5% when you swipe a card anyway. LOCA PAY was more convenient because QR was accepted in many more everyday places.

I added my crypto virtual card to Apple Pay before the trip. In Laos, LOCA PAY made it feel real: scan LAO QR, approve on my phone, and my travel crypto setup actually worked.
Lucas MeyerGermany
My virtual card worked like a normal card inside LOCA PAY. For someone who travels with crypto, this was the easiest way I found to pay at local QR counters.

I did not need to cash out before every small purchase. With a linked virtual card, LOCA PAY turned everyday LAO QR payments into a simple travel-with-crypto flow.
